A retain migration rule reinstalls the same version of the application during the migration. In this tutorial, we are going to create a rule that retains Windows Live Mail 12.

To do this:

  1. In FILTER, search for Live Mail.

  2. Click Add rule.
  3. On the Migration rule screen, choose Retain application as is for the behavior of the rule.

  4. As we want to retain all instances of Windows Live Mail, follow the actions in the table below (the columns represent the action in the Migration Rule screen):

    1. The attributes for Windows Live Mail is already populated.

  5. As this version of Windows Live Mail is not already associated with a Configuration Manager package or application, you must make the association for it to be installed.Choose Associate target with CM Package. From the list of applications, choose Windows Live Mail 12.

  6. Click Save and Close.
  7. In FILTER, search for Live Mail.
  8. Under Rule, click Show to view a summary of the post-OSD state for the rule you just created.
