New features in NightWatchman Enterprise 7.2.100

This maintenance release introduces the following new feature:

  • The log files for the Wakeup Server and the 1E Agent can now rollover multiple times allowing more log information for those products to be maintained and resulting in persistent issue tracking

This maintenance release also includes all the hotfixes delivered after the main 7.2 release and some additional bug fixes:

  • Client-side
    • 125663 - Maintenance Window reporting issue of laptops
    • 128664 - Loop while creating Power Optimization report
  • Server-side
    • 132627 - Wakeup not waking the right machines at Application Deadline due to WQL issue
    • 128998 - SQL timeout exception while trying to get systems for scheduled Alarm clock
    • 130122 - Wakeup server registration timer not working correctly because of bug in Sitemonitor thread
    • 133547 - Wakeup server crashing (file mapping issue)
    • 131595 - Issue due to long name of weekly wakeup drilled down report of a computer
  • NWM Console-side
    • 132006 - Slow listing of clients in NWM Console 7.2

The main release introduces the following features:

  1. Computer Reclaim (formerly Hardware Utilization) is now more prominent and has the following enhancements:
  2. 1E Tachyon integration: see which NightWatchman clients are online or offline nearly in real-time in the NightWatchman console when you integrate with Tachyon (our companion product).
    • You can see current online/offline status for small numbers of clients using convenient red/green 'stoplight' icons in the NightWatchman console
    • You can also see current online/offline status for large numbers of clients (even hundreds of thousands) using the location and organization group properties dialog box in the NightWatchman console.
    • All NightWatchman 7.2 customers are entitled to a perpetual license for Tachyon integration into NightWatchman. The license also provides free full Tachyon functionality for two months.
  3. A much improved and reorganised reporting console with a deeper menu system with simplified and consistent terminology in line with our other products
  4. Enhancements to NightWatchman policy management:
    • Improved restrictions for local administrators. Without the Modify privilege, administrators can select and apply appropriate policies to their NightWatchman location or organization group hierarchies but:
      • cannot add, rename or delete groups
      • cannot remove members from groups
      • cannot move computers between groups
    • When you delete Location/Organization groups, they are now hidden from view and power saving reports are not affected. Previously, the power savings report were skewed by the removal of these groups as their associated clients were orphaned and even though the underlying data was not affected, the reports could not pick them up.
    • Policies that include scheduled actions have a new option that logs the user off and if that's successful would force the computer to standby
    • Reboot Optimization can be enabled/disabled by using policies (previously it was enabled by default on new clients and clients that didn't have a policy prior to 7.1)
  5. Enahncements to the Mac 1E Agent 7.2.0.2:
    • The 1E Agent Mac client was not able to communicate with the server because of additional security layers in Mac OSs.
    • Resolved issues with installation where the latest Mac OS does not have in-bulit OpenSSL support.
