Fundamentals of 1E CMDB Connect

An overview of the fundamental concepts and terminology needed to understand what 1E CMDB Connect will do for you. In most Organizations, CMDB implementations has been a challenge due to one or all the following reasons:

  • Multiple inputs

  • Lots of data and limited information available

  • Stale and duplicate data

  • Maintenance is an afterthought.

To mitigate these challenges, we have designed a federated CMDB with minimal data populated into standard CMDB tables. The federated structure called 1E CMDB Connect and allows customers to retrieve real time end-user device information without permanently populating the CMDB tables.

ServiceNow integration with 1E

1E CMDB Connect is an integration between the ServiceNow CMDB module and 1E. This integration between ServiceNow and 1E enables customers to utilize real-time device information provided by the CMDB database with the help of 1E.

Configuring 1E CMDB Connect

You can easily install 1E 1E CMDB Connect from the ServiceNow App store. Once installed, a 1E CMDB Connect administrator can configure the application by setting the 1E User Name parameter on the App Configuration page to the name of an existing 1E user. This user must have a minimum of Full Administrator permission in 1E to run the instructions associated with 1E CMDB Connect.

The 1E CMDB Connect administrator must also configure the 1E CMDB Connect tab and Related Lists to access end-user device details and associated real-time information.

Using 1E CMDB Connect

After installing 1E CMDB Connect from the ServiceNow App store, search for 1E CMDB Connect in the application navigator. 1E CMDB Connect equips service desk personnel with real time information from end-user devices. 1E CMDB Connect inspects and investigates end-user devices in an enterprise and can schedule data syncs with ServiceNow and allowing you to view the details of triggered 1E instructions.
