Verifying

Basic verification tests that cover the installation and basic use of Dashboards. These tests should be run in series. Depending on the decisions you have made during the design phase of your implementation, you may need additional tests to verify your implementation.

Note

Please ensure you complete all verification tests. They not only confirm your system is operational, but they also introduce you to concepts and tasks that you will use later when using Dashboards.

To run these tests, you need:

  1. A valid license that includes Dashboards.

  2. To have installed the Hotfix bundle that contains the Dashboards release.

  3. To have completed all the steps on 1E Dashboards post-installation tasks.

Verify Tachyon Dashboards

The following verification steps check that the Tachyon Dashboards application has been installed correctly and is displaying the correct information.

Basic Hotfix bundle installation verification

To run the following verifications, log in with a user that has the Full Administrator role.

BH01
  • Ensure that the application is displayed on the Tachyon home page.

  1. Navigate to: https://<tachyonbaseurl>/tachyon/App/#/system/home

  2. Confirm the Dashboards - 1E Labstile is visible.

If the tile is not visible, check that requirements 1. and 2. have been met.

BH02
  • Ensure that the 1E ExecutiveDashboard.zip product pack has been loaded.

  1. Navigate to the Instructions→Instruction sets page in the Settings app.

  2. Confirm the 1E ExecutiveDashboard instruction set is visible and that it contains the 10 instructions from the product pack loaded by the hotfix bundle.

If the instruction set is not visible, check that requirements 1. and 2. have been met.

If the instruction set is visible but does not contain any instructions, check the Tachyon.Setup.log, located in the same directory as Tachyon.Setup.exe, to see if there was an attempt to upload the instructions that failed due to licensing issues.

Search for entries that contain the following text (time and date stamps have been left out of the text):

ERROR Tachyon.ProductPackDeploymentTool - The server reported an error while uploading ... ... [{"ErrorCode":"ProductPack.SsiIsNot1ESigned"

This may indicate that your license is not configured correctly to license the Dashboards app.

BH03
  • Ensure that the new Dashboards User custom role has been added to the Tachyon Roles.

  1. Navigate to the Permissions→Roles page in the Settings app.

  2. Confirm the Dashboards User role has been added.

  3. Click on the name link for the Dashboards User role to display the Edit Role page.

  4. Confirm the Dashboards User role has Questioner permissions on the 1E ExecutiveDashboard instruction set.

  5. Exit the editor by clicking Cancel.

If the role has not been created there were probably errors during the installation of the Hotfix bundle, please check the Tachyon.Setup.log file, located in the same directory as Tachyon.Setup.exe.

Executive Dashboard data verification

To run the following verifications, log in with a user that has the Full Administrator role.

ED01
  • Ensure that the application is displayed after clicking on the Dashboards - 1E Labs tile.

The Dashboards app is displayed open on the Exec Dashboard page.

Check that you are accessing Tachyon with a user that has the Full Administrator role.

ED02
  • Ensure that the Perception of IT tile is showing data.

The Perception of IT tile displays information related to the Perception Of IT sentiment survey.

If the tile displays the text An error occurred, this is usually an indication that the Perception Of IT survey has not yet been created - ensure that requirement 3 has been fully met.

If the tile displays the text No Survey Responses, this may be due to the following:

  • no end-user has responded

  • Tachyon Dashboards has not yet processed the response - this can take up to 3 minutes from when the response was received by Tachyon, as the front-end display is cached

  • the Perception Of IT sentiment survey has been created but not yet deployed.
