1E Client 8.1 Release Notes – last updated 02-August-2022

These notes contain late-breaking information about 1E Client that you need to have to successfully install and use the product. For the most up-to-date information please see the online readme. You should read these release notes and the online documentation for 1E Client thoroughly before installing the software.

New features in 1E Client 8.1
Tachyon client for Tachyon v8.1

  • The status of all Guaranteed State rules is reported after a configurable number of days, even if the rule status has not changed

  • New module called Policy to give better visibility into what the current status of Guaranteed State rules:Agent modules and methods

    • ForceStatusReport - trigger the 1E Client to force-send all policy status messages on restart

    • GetEventSubscriptions - get event subscriptions in current policy

    • GetRuleEvaluationHistory ([ruleId]) - get the evaluation history for one rule or all rules

    • GetRules - get rules in current policy (with current status)

    • GetStatistics - get policy-related statistics/perf counters

    • GetSummary - get a summary of the current policy

    • Policy.Invalidate () - reset the 1E Client's policy to null/empty, which will force a renegotiation of the policy (immediately if connected to Switch, or when it does eventually connect)

  • New methods:

  • Deprecated methods: FileContent.GetTorrentAnnounceUris, FileContent.GetTorrentDescribedFiles, FileContent.GetTorrentInfo

  • Support for Solaris operating systems has been deprecated

WakeUp client for NightWatchman Enterprise v7.3

  • WakeUp 7.3 client is the WakeUp module in 1E Client 8.1

  • No changes - only hotfixes.

Content Distribution client for Content Distribution v8.1

  • NomadBranch 8.1 client is the Content Distribution module in 1E Client 8.1

  • Set Nomad as Download Program - cloud-based services to support Work From Anywhere (WFA) users are becoming more critical to the way enterprises work, there is an increased reliance on Cloud Distribution Points for distributing content.

  • Enhancements:

    • Improvements to the Client authentication criteria to authenticate with a DP (or any download source)

    • Download reporting now includes Top status bar, for Bandwdith Protection Reporting.

PXE client for PXE Everywhere v8.1

  • PXE Everywhere Agent is a client module of 1E Client 8.1, available for x64 and x86 platforms

  • There are no other changes in this version other than hotfixes.

  • NomadBranch 7.1 client is the Nomad module in 1E Client 5.2

  • ActiveEfficiency features are now provided by Content Distribution on Tachyon Platform 5.2

  • Client status messages are sent via Tachyon event policy system - Content Distribution uses these instead of StatusMsgEvents using Configuration Manager

  • New client settings:

    • DeliveryOptimizationReportingEnabled - monitoring of Delivery Optimization downloads and reporting them to Content Distribution - disabled by default

    • SupportWPAD - provides support for Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Protocol (WPAD) - disabled by default.

PXE client for PXE Everywhere v4.0.100

  • PXE Everywhere Agent 4.0.100 is the PXE Everywhere module in 1E Client 5.2

  • No changes - only hotfixes.

Tachyon Instruction Management Studio (TIMS) v5.2

  • Support for VDI features (device resource demand reporting) - this is a preview feature that is not enabled by default.

1E Client features by release

A list of features organized by the release they were implemented in. Links through to the features have been provided for convenience.

Each release includes new or enhanced functions and methods in the Agent language (SCALE). Please refer to Tachyon SDK - Functions and Methods Reference for more details.

New features in 1E Client 8.1
Tachyon client for Tachyon v8.1

  • The status of all Guaranteed State rules is reported after a configurable number of days, even if the rule status has not changed

  • New module called Policy to give better visibility into what the current status of Guaranteed State rules:Agent modules and methods

    • ForceStatusReport - trigger the 1E Client to force-send all policy status messages on restart

    • GetEventSubscriptions - get event subscriptions in current policy

    • GetRuleEvaluationHistory ([ruleId]) - get the evaluation history for one rule or all rules

    • GetRules - get rules in current policy (with current status)
