1E Client Deployment Assistant 8.1 release notes – last updated 03-August-2022

New Features

The 1E Client Deployment Assistant 8.1 release introduces the following features:

  • CDA now uses .NET Framework 4.8

This release includes the following changes:

Accumulated Hotfixes (Patches) included:

  • None

Note

CDA only supports single patch installation, that is you can only have one .msp file per client. In practice this shouldn't be an issue as cumulative patches are created across all the 1E products, so only one patch should be needed anyway.

Please check the 1E Support Portal to see if there is a later Accumulated Hotfix (Patch):

  • Patches are now supported for the products. This version supports the installation of patches (.msp) alongside their corresponding client installer files (.msi). The latest released patch for each client is now packaged along with the .msi in each new CDA release. Patches can only be installed alongside the .msi. That is the patching can't be done using CDA after the client has been installed. If you want to apply patch to a client that is different to the packaged one, the existing .msp file must be replaced by your new one, this is located in the client's installation folder under the Agent Installation Files folder in the CDA artifact. This must be done prior to launching the CDA installer. For more details, please refer to Using client patch files with CDA.

Endpoint Agent Installation (EAI) Solution Accelerator provides a single wizard interface covering the following agents:

  • Nomad – the wizard also adds a file to the Nomad cache to prevent it from being scanned for installed software during Configuration Manager inventory.

  • PXE Everywhere – the wizard also builds a PXE boot image and related files in order to service PXE requests and runs CreateBCD.exe to copy an advertised PXE boot image to the PXE Everywhere cache within a task sequence - thereby reducing the manual configuration required post-installation

  • 1E Agent – NightWatchman and WakeUp
