  • Works with Tachyon Platform 5.2

  • No new features in this maintenance release.

Features in the main Application Migration 3.1 release:

  • Works with Tachyon 5.1

  • Improvements to upgrade rules to support scenarios where the currently installed software has a later version than the one listed in the upgrade rule - In versions prior to Application Migration 3.1, it was possible that upgrade rules had issues when the application they were trying to upgrade on the client devices were later versions than the ones they were trying to upgrade to. To remedy these unpredictable and unwanted results, now if an upgrade rule tries to downgrade an application then it will be ignored. For more details please refer to Adding a rule to upgrade an application: What happens in upgrade scenarios where the currently installed version of the application is later than the target application?

  • Application and Package installation success has been improved - this handles scenarios where the administrator has forgotten to check the Allow this application to be installed from the Install Application task sequence action without being deployed checkbox, which is a prerequisite for migrating an application. In practice, it was a common error for administrators to overlook this, which - in earlier versions - led to the Task Sequence failing. In Application Migration 3.1, if the administrator forgets to set the checkbox, a warning is now displayed that lets the administrator continue and Application Migration sets the option automatically. For more details please refer to Getting started with Application Migration: Auto Install for Configuration Manager Applications and Packages

  • Multiple exclusion of applications is now supported from the Installations page - please refer to Managing product exclusions.

Features released in Application Migration 3.0
  • New user interface - The Application Migration user interface has been integrated into the common 1E platform user interface to provide a common look and feel across 1E products.

  • Manage association of Configuration Manager applications and packages independently of migration rules - Configuration Manager associations are now managed in the Tachyon Inventory application, separate from migration rules which are still managed in the Application Migration application - please refer to Manage associations for more details. This enables administrators to associate their Configuration Manager applications and packages with products from the 1E Catalog, before creating migration rules. It also makes it easier to identify applications installed in the environment that do not have an associated application or package in Configuration Manager to install them. Administrators can still continue to add or change associations from the Manage Rules and Role Based Application Sets pages.

  • Identify orphaned Configuration Manager applications or packages - Previously, it was not easy for an administrator to identify migration rules or role-based application sets that referenced applications or packages that had been deleted from Configuration Manager. Administrators now see alerts on the Manage Rules and Role Based Application Sets pages which identify orphaned applications when one or more rules or applications in an application set reference Configuration Manager objects that no longer exist, or where the Configuration Manager association has been deleted. For more information please refer to Managing Configuration Manager association alerts.

  • Install applications in a particular sequence - Administrators can now define the order in which certain applications should be installed. This feature supports scenarios where some combinations of applications must be installed in a particular sequence if they are to co-exist on the same device. For more information please refer to Setting the Install Sequence for applications.

  • Export device migration preview data - Administrators can export the data from the Device Preview page to an Excel spreadsheet, which can be shared with end users prior to the migration of their device.
